OntarioLearn description: This course introduces students to a multi-module accounting software program designed for small to medium-size businesses. Students will use the software and their knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to create and maintain accounting records, including period end procedures and the creation of financial statements for sole proprietorships. Note: This course uses Sage 50.

Course Essentials:

You must have the following:

  • Hardware: Processor operating at 1.0 GHz or higher (2.0 GHz recommended); 4 GB of RAM (6 GB recommended); 2 GB of available hard-disk space (plus an additional 1 GB needed for installation); DVD drive (Data files for assignments come on the DVD included with the textbook. If you do not have a DVD drive on your computer, you can download the data files from the Pearson companion website.)
  • Operating system: Microsoft-supported version of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (with the latest updates from Microsoft) (Macintosh environments are not supported in this course. The teacher will not be able to support you if you run into technical issues while using a Mac with a Windows environment installed.)
  • Software: Internet Explorer (latest version); Sage 50 2018 (Registration information for a student trial version can be obtained through the purchase of the correct textbook.)

Prerequisites

You must have completed ACCT 9106 Accounting Basics 1 (Distance Learning). (An approved equivalent is also acceptable.)
