Our Fire Protection 2012 course is an overview/refresher course for experienced practitioners. This building code course helps you understand the Ontario Building Code requirements that are applicable to fire protection. In addition to an overview of all fire protection requirements contained within the Building Code, the curriculum focuses on Division B Parts 1, 3, 6, 9 and 11 of the Code as well as Supplementary Standards SB-2, SB-3 and SB-4. This course is intended mainly for inspectors whose duties relate to plans, reviews or inspections regarding fire suppression, fire detection firefighting and fire safety or for fire chiefs who have been appointed as inspectors under Division C Sentence 184.108.40.206. (1) of the Code. It will also be useful to others who wish to prepare for the Fire Protection exam.

This is an online course delivered via Blackboard Learn.
You must have a copy of the 2012 Building Code Compendium before you begin this course. The compendium is available for purchase through the George Brown College bookstore, at our Building Code and Trade Manuals website and at the Publications Ontario website.
You must have a general understanding of the building construction process and basic blueprint reading skills.
You will have the most success in this course if you have already completed the following two courses before you start this course:
- BLDG 9241 Part 3 Large Buildings Classification and Construction or BLDG 9267 Part 3 Large Buildings Classification and Construction (Distance Learning)
- BLDG 9240 Part 3 Large Buildings Health and Safety Requirements or BLDG 9236 Large Buildings 2012 or BLDG 9257 Large Buildings 2012 (Distance Learning)
