Our GPRO Operations and Maintenance Essentials course is a Green Professional Building Skills Training (GPRO) course that is offered by George Brown College Continuing Education in partnership with the Urban Green Council and includes the GPRO certificate exam.

Urban Green description: GPRO Operations and Maintenance Essentials (GPRO O&M) has been completely revamped to provide building professionals with strategies to reduce energy use while improving tenant comfort and health. Participants leave with at least three immediately actionable measures and the next steps needed to achieve them. This course is ideal for property managers and building staff in both residential and high-rise commercial buildings, including: building superintendents, operators, facility and property managers, operating engineers and stationary engineers. Students learn to take a systemic approach to operating and maintaining a building; evaluate building performance; identify at least three immediately actionable measures that will improve building health, energy or water efficiency of your building and the next steps needed to achieve them; and explain the costs and benefits of those measures. This course qualifies you for 12 American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) continuing education credits. Course Delivery Method:

This is normally an in-class course but will be offered temporarily online via Blackboard Learn/Collaborate while college buildings are closed. Additionally, on the GPRO certificate exam day, you will receive an email with a link to an online exam. You will have three days from the day you receive the email to complete the exam. Exams will be 50 multiple-choice questions but will be open book. You will have 75 minutes to complete the exam. The passing grade for online exams is 80%. You will receive your score and GPRO certificate (if applicable) via email once they are processed.

Prerequisites

You must have a theoretical knowledge of and practical experience with residential and high-rise commercial building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
