Our Part 9 Buildings Structural Requirements course is a detailed technical course. This advanced building code course deals with the structural provisions and limitations of Division B Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code. The curriculum explores legal considerations; soil conditions; excavations, footings and foundations; transfer of forces acting on a building; masonry construction; trusses; and special separations and exposure protection.

This is an online course delivered via Blackboard Learn.
You must have a copy of the 2012 Building Code Compendium before you begin this course. The compendium is available for purchase through the George Brown College bookstore, at our Building Code and Trade Manuals website and at the Publications Ontario website.
You must have a general understanding of the building construction process and basic blueprint reading skills.
You will have the most success in this course if you have already completed the following two courses before you start this course:
