Our Tea Foundations course provides an introduction to all aspects of tea. Gain basic knowledge of the botany and taxonomy of the tea plant, and learn to define and identify the species and sub-species useful for the production of tea. Explore key steps in tea manufacture and processing, as well as an introduction to grading and regulations impacting the tea market. Investigate sensory evaluation concepts and the methodology for applying these concepts to tea. Understand the general characteristics and styles of tea from various regions and apply sensory evaluation methods to sample teas from each style. Learn and practice the evaluative method of cupping tea.
