Any George Brown College student who has a disability and requires accommodations is welcome to register with George Brown College’s Accessible Learning Services. A disability may be permanent or temporary and can include (but is not limited to) a medical disability, a learning disability, a sensory disability, a mobility disability, a brain injury, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or mental health concerns. Accessible Learning Services offers
- general accommodations for tests and exams, including the General English Assessment (GEA) and the General Math Assessment (GMA). Register with Accessible Learning Services by following the steps listed on the college-wide How to Register with Accessible Learning Services web page. The college requires seven business days’ notice to arrange your testing accommodation. Once you have registered with Accessible Learning Services, book your assessment with accommodations by following the steps listed on the college-wide Testing Accommodations for Applicants and New Students web page.
- academic accommodations, including class note-taking, recorded lectures, recording devices and digital pens, and textbooks in alternative formats (large print, audio, PDF or Braille). Register with Accessible Learning Services by following the steps listed on the college-wide How to Register with Accessible Learning Services web page. You should register with Accessible Learning Services as early as possible to receive academic accommodations in time for your first class. Once you are registered with Accessible Learning Services, you will need to book an appointment with an accessibility consultant. Your accessibility consultant will determine the appropriate academic accommodations for you based on the documentation you provide. (If you cannot meet in person, you can request to have your appointment with your accessibility consultant over the phone.)
